I ordered this very same gate online from a familiar garden provide company, I Think through its Amazon store. We were foster-caring puppies, and I was hoping to get something more interesting than the standard baby gate to keep them confined to obvious rooms.
I wish I could rate this "no stars at all", or even "negative stars" but it looks like I have to rate it at least one star. I will, under protest.
Here's your dose of irony: Although this is advertised for use with children and small pets, the assembly instructions clearly state "Keep this item away from children and small pets".
In the pictures, it Looks like terminated wood. In reality it's made of bare wood with a poorly applied stain. I like how the assembly instructions call this "The Features of Rustic Wood" that say "The grain of genuine wood is as unique as a fingerprint--no two pieces are exactly alike. This unique inequity will originate variations in shading when the protect stain is applied. Enjoy this "one-of-a-kind" expandable fence for years to come." I love how this makes the goods sound like a handcrafted work of quality.
In reality, it is so lightweight, I had problem putting the feet on, because it flexed and flopped like a piece of newspaper. The wood looks and feels like balsa wood--not something I associate with capability furniture & accessories. The stain is poorly applied and blotchy. There is no other finish. Except maybe the cedar smell, which is probably applied, too.
In the photograph it's shown at the lowest of a stairway, and inside a door. There is no way this could be used for a barricade for anything or anything, because it can be in effect pushed out of the way. And there is no way to fasten it into a doorway. Even if you could, it's not strong sufficient to hold up under any number of force. I'm guessing a child could fall against it and that would be sufficient to break it. There Is No Way This goods Can Be Used As A Child safety Gate Or A Pet Gate.
How's that for the power of marketing?
It is so poorly finished, the lowest ends of the expanding slats look like they've been snapped off, not cut or sawn.
I've terminated that the only way this can act as a gate or barricade is for citizen old sufficient to identify it as a optic barrier. I in effect set it up today and my Rabbit knocked it over.
I didn't return it because I bought it months ago and didn't open it til recently. So it's my own fault I'm stuck with this piece of crap.
I'm sorry, I'm normally not so crude when I describe a product. But honestly, this is one of the most non-functional thing I've seen aside from a "Kiss the Cook" sign. And I can't believe it's tagged as a baby gate and pet fence.
There oughtta be a law....
